Etro
#etro50
Italian fashion brand Etro celebrated 50 years in the business last night. Launched in1968, Etro has a distinctive motif featuring paisley. Although one might think this would get old after half a century; in fact, Etro delights with updated designs. Currently available instore includes the capsule collection created for Etro 50 as well as a wide range of leather products. The campaign showcases a clever mix of tradition & cultures with psychedelic quirkiness.
Paragon Of Beauty
At the same time, the Etro boutique itself was unveiled for the first time after renovation at Paragon. The beautiful new layout seemed a lot cheerier, perfect for shopping as well as today’s party. After initial drama over an ice sculpture followed by frantic drying, we were allowed inside. Once inside, it was business as usual. Waiters dressed in paisley print aprons served canapes and champagne. This grand boutique opening party was put together by Tjin’s team, and graced by celebrities including Pierre Png, a bona fide an international star. Just as I was about to make a joke about crazy rich Asians with Pierre, in walked a Malaysian princess and I am glad I held my tongue. Joining them at the photowall are the team from Etro & Nadya Hutagalung.
Faithful To Love And Beauty
I love the autumn winter 2018/2019 campaign tagline, faithful to love and beauty. It sums up what many of the guests feel too. I had shown up with my friends, Sara-Ann K & Vernon Tan and Kareena Fabiani. Presently I ran into Tay Kewei whom I’d last met while she was heavily pregnant. At that time we were both ambassadors for a social cause called Pledge It Forward. Now Sara, Vernon, Kareena, Kewei & I are all parents of young children. While we hope to hold on to traditions & cultures, we also want to stay relevant in a modern society. How do we raise good kids in a society where things move & change so quickly?
By staying faithful to love and beauty of course.
